Portal vein congestion index in patients with and without chronic liver disease

Aim of the study: Portal vein congestion index has shown promise in detecting early portal venous hemodynamic changes chronic liver disease. The aim this study was to compare adult patients with disease that healthy controls, and evaluate differences index, if any, between common etiologies (chronic viral hepatitis, alcoholic disease, non-alcoholic fatty disease). Method materials: Eighty participants 80 controls had their sociodemographic variables, anthropometric indices, size/echotexture, spleen size, presence ascites, parameters (diameter, cross-sectional area, velocity, index) evaluated. P ≤0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: There were 48 (60%) males 32 (40%) females control group, while 56 (70%) 24 (30%) included group (p = 0.185). Of eighty people 57 (71.2%) diagnosed 23 (28.8%) hepatitis. no cases during period. mean spans groups 13.45 ± 0.85 cm 16.50 4.96 cm, respectively. All normal hepatic parenchymal echogenicity, 45 (56.3%) subjects (36 9 hepatitis) increased echogenicity. values for 0.0775 0.02 cm/sec 0.1037 0.03 cm/sec, respectively <0.0001). Conclusion: showed a significantly higher than group.
